Symbolism in Godzilla King of the Monsters

Godzilla King of the Monsters is the 3rd installment in the Warners Brothers Monsterverse reboot series. This particular movie pits Godzilla against the other “Titans” of the world which have lied dormant for decades.

There is a particular scene where Dr. Emma Russell who is played by Vera Farmiga explains the origins of the Titans. She’s a stated that “Our world is changing. The mass extinction we feared has already begun and we are the cause. We are the infection. But like all living organisms, the earth unleashed a fever to fight this infection. Its original and rightful rulers the Titans.

For thousands of years these creatures have remained in hiding around the world. And unless all the Titans are found our planet will perish, and so will we. They are the only guarantee that life will carry on.”

It isn’t a coincidence that this sounds so familiar. I believe that the Titans symbolize black people who have been asleep for years and their minds have been barren of the true knowledge of self. Much like the Titans were the true rulers of this planet and they had to wake up to realize that.

So its time for us to wake up and realize who we are the true Titans of the real world. The black man and Woman who’s rightful place is at the top of all civilization.
